End of an era

WADE is sad to announce that our Chair, Philip Mirfin, has stood down for personal reasons, effectively immediately.

Philip has been Chair since 2021 and has achieved a great deal during his time on the Board. Through his many contacts in the Wokingham community, Philip has been an exceptional fundraiser, helping to raise funds for WADE through Golf Tournaments, Charity Concerts, and the Wade 150 Club lottery.

He has been an integral part of the Wokingham community for many years. He was a Town Councillor, the Town Mayor, a Borough Councillor, a School Governor and Chair of Wokingham Winter Carnival.

Lucy Zeal, Patron for WADE, said “I would like to personally thank Philip for all his hard work as Chair of WADE. He has worked hard to ensure WADE and our older residents are at the forefront of the community. We shall miss his enthusiasm and dedication to the role and wish him well for the future.”

WADE’s Vice Chair, Sandy Sweet, will become Acting Chair until the AGM in November 2026.

WADE is always keen to welcome new Volunteers and Trustees to our team. If you would like to get involved, please contact info@wadecentre.org.uk
