Wade Kitchen Assistant Job Specification

 

Job title: Kitchen Assistant

Reports to: Cook/Centre Manager

Job purpose:

-              Under the supervision of the Cook, help to prepare any food (vegetables, fruit etc) for lunch

-              Assist the Cook to serve lunch

-              To wash up using dishwasher any plates, cutlery etc. used by the Members

-              To wash up all cooking pans

-              To prepare and cook meals to cover holidays and any sickness of the cook.

-              To cover paperwork in the absence of the cook.

-              To clean down after service all work surfaces, cooker, food slicer, potato peeler etc

-              To wash & fold the daily washing of tea towel , aprons and anything else used on a daily    basis

-              To wipe down & lay tables ready for the following day.

-              To help put away food  deliveries

-              to carry out a weekly online shopping order in the absence of the cook.

-              Any Adhoc duties.

(full instructions will be given for the use of the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer). Please note that when this is required, hours of work will increase to  9.00am to 2pm.

Qualifications: 

-              Food Safety Level 2 preferred but not essential as training ca be given

-              Agree to be "Disclosure and Barring Service" (DBS) checked.

-              Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and management

Note:

-              Uniform will be provided, but it is your responsibility to keep it clean

-              You will not have any management responsibilities but you will he expected to work as a team with other Day Centre staff
